My ceramic art objects are usually carefully planned and crafted. But there is another side to working with clay — the less planned and unintentional creations of children. There is a bit of the child in all of us, and mine is expressed in clay, usually through animal forms. Some of my pieces are inspired by the Black Footed Ferrets my son helped enumerate at night in Arizona during his years in the Cochino Conservation Corp. I’ve never seen a real Black Footed Ferret, so these pieces are partly from photos, and mostly from my imagination. They are joined by fanciful cousins that are the results of my playing with clay.
